>>Know anybody who ever bought anything because of a web ad? Not me.

That's where you need to get up to speed. If you're betting money based on a belief that Internet ads don't work (and e-commerce isn't viable) then you're making a blind bet.

i bought something from a web ad! once.
and i've been on the internet for years
before it was the web.

TRUE STORY.

i wanted an external battery last year for my laptop and
did a web search (i forget which search engine because
they're all the same to me). next time i load Netscape,
voila, an ad from GO BATTERY for an external "battery saver"
with a cigarette-lighter output. just what i'm looking for,
so i bought it. they promised to ship it next day.
no package comes. i call, and they say Monday. no package.
finally it comes. i try it out and it's dead on arrival.
send it back. they don't credit my credit card. write
letter to credit card company. finally get money back,
minus my shipping cost for the return.

exercise for the reader.
am i likely to buy again from a web ad?

<< So Coke's business model works. YHOO's won't, IMO. >>

So explain to me what it means when Coke starts paying Yahoo for ads on the internet? Who wins in that scenario? (Just toying with you)

Buy TLAB folks.
