PeterR1700 "BTW - do you know the float? How long have you been a
shareholder? ".

I believe the float is ~170 mill shares following 2:1 split 1996.
Been a shareholder off and on since 1993 ( after another 2:1 split ).

I think if you can hold this stock for 5 years ( I am primarily a trader and have never held a stock more than a few months ), that IS the BEST way of investing, GG, then I think NN is a great buy because networking it's were it's at. NN has already crashed. The momentum guys are out. I personally doubt we are going back down, but even if we do, NN will go back up, IMHO.
The big unknown is the direction of the market overall, because if it goes down, it may drag NN with it.
I was leary at the beginning of the market going down. However I had to rethink my position after oil prices went down ( lowest in 9 years ). I think inflation is now subdued. Competition from Asian-debacle
low wages will keep a lid on rising wage pressures in the US so that the economy will continue to grow modestly. This is reflected in the
low interest and Bond rates. So that I tend to agree with Peter Canello, domestic strategist for Morgan Stanley who this week in Barron's said that people will continue to buy stocks as long as they can get more out of them than in bonds, which is the cse now with these low bond yields.
As to what stocks to buy I think that growth is the key. And NN will definitely have that. Networkers and NN have been bottled up the last 3 years by a lousy US Telecom bill.Money went into R&D producing some great products ( and paltry EPS !!!, GG ). But with the Internet, Internet telephony, telco mergers/explosion, Internet doubling every 3-6 months, the time has arrived to sell ( and buy ) these great switches because of their proven bandwidth and reliability and hardiness i.e. create a true backbone. NN with 40% of the international market will get a nice chunk out of it.
