DGN tops HP and ALR NT database servers performance
- INFOWORLD Mar 9 1998 Comparison tests

Appreciate your reply Mike. I begin to understand
the "marketing" handicap you implied.

I came across results of a performance tests between
DGN, Digital, IBM, ALR, Compaq and Unisys that
highlight the technical competence of DGN you mention.
The servers tested had the following criteria:
below 100,000 US$, at least 1GB RAM, MS SQL 6.5
and 10/100 Mbps network interface cards
Those that accepted the challenge:
DGN Aviion AV8600 w/8 processors, 2GB RAM
ALR Revolution 6x6 200/1 w/6 processors. 4GB RAM
HP NetServer LXr Pro8 w/8 processors, 2GB RAM
The test was to rate the best server to handle mission
critical applications.

DGN topped - most well rounded and expandable however
was the most expensive (price and 3-yr support)

I am looking to enter this price range... but perhaps
will wait for next Q earnings performance.
