Ed.....Returned from the AZ Republic-sponsored investment seminar. Went specifically for the Steve Barnes (Barnes Investment Services, Inc.); Ken Trbovich (Red Chip Review); and Debra Fiakas (H.D. Brous & Co.) panel discussions, moderated by Dawn Gilbertson (AZ Republic Business Writer), on "Promising Arizona Stocks".

The room held 700---they sent back 150 checks. I had not registered, and had to talk my way in. Broad age spectrum, all over 30, 45 percent women. Not skewed to retirees.

About 200 people attended the panel breakout discussions (2 separate panels, 45 minutes each, same participants as above, but different audiences).

The eventual discussion of "most interesting " companies yielded the usual list of suspects, pretty much in the following order of unanimity of opinion: TFS; MINI; CRPB/ASMIF; SHUF; MTST.

The only other apparent thing was that the audience members are pretty far behind the information curve on all these companies, and investing in general. Overall, I thought the meeting was very valuable for most of the audience. And, I would go again, but only to "read" the analysts, and chat them up privately after the meeting.
