I think you can use TS to scan using indicators but I never use it because I don't use a mechanical trading system. With TS you can download a bunch of stocks on a daily basis and flip through them everyday, like I do with the S&P 100 and the TSE marginable stocks.

I get ideas from my trading partner/broker. He sits in front of the ticker all day, knows everybody and everything...we look for the top volume traders, block trades, etc. for life signs. Otherwise we just trade where there is volume. It is important to watch volume, because it is all professional traders out there on the VCT machines. It is difficult to say about accumulation. I use candlesticks for that. Some people think the consolidated house summaries will do it, but they don't account for a lot, especially U.S. buying, which is done primarily through a couple of brokerage firms only.

P.S. I used to be a tape trader too and graduated onto bigger and better things. But the first lays the foundation for the second. I strongly recommend candlestick charting. A great investment would be Steve Nison's two books. It causes you to think of the market as a battle between the buyers and the sellers and candlesticks assist in graphically representing this battle. Once I began to use candlesticks my trading improved dramatically. I traded CRN/V 21 times and took losses on 4 trades over three months. It was a good score. I'm off to the office. See ya around later.
