Crystallex International Corporation -

CEO says Acosta's personal views are irrelevant

Crystallex International Corporation KRYShares issued 340000001998-03-17 close $7.15Wednesday Mar 18 1998Mr Marc Oppenheimer reports The company's president and CEO made the following statement after today's halt in trading of Crystallex's stock and in response to shareholder inquiries. The trading halt followed the issuance of certain press reports incorrectly attributing to the government of Venezuela certain statements regarding Crystallex's claims to the Cristinas 4 and 6 concessions. "We categorically deny the charges made today by Venezuelan congressman Rafael Rodriguez Acosta. Acosta does not speak for the government of Venezuala. Acosta has become a fixture at North American mining conferences, with varied allegations regarding Crystallex. This latest attack adds nothing new to previous allegations that have never been sustained." "Crystallex's rights, which are held through Inversar Mael, are currently the subject matter of proceedings before the Supreme Court of Venezuela, case number 13551 of the Political Administrative Chamber. Under the Venezuelan constitution, the Supreme Court has the sole and exclusive jurisdiction to determine such matters. Acosta's personal views are irrelevant. Crystallex's application is being considered by the court in the ordinary course." (c) Copyright 1997 Canjex Publishing Ltd. canada-stockwatch.com
