IVAN1, <ALL: Heard GAO say computers would fail (y2k)-I just heard the noon news on NPR and they reported that in testimony today, the GAO said that it was too late for some government computers to make it in 2000 and that triage and contingency planning should begin.> Somehow I don't think we're going to see much in the papers about this ... based on past history. It's unfortunate, but most of this info is ONLY available on the internet. That's why I do so much "Cut & Pasting". It's the only way I can let my friends and family know what's going on. It's been a challenge ... but not much DENIAL anymore. I "cut & pasted"" the whole deal. My parents (and their friends) are in their 70's and have difficulty reading a lot of the stuff on the internet. I break paragraphs for easier reading, and put in larger type. Their generation worked dmn hard. Had a strong work ethic - which I don't see much these days. Made a lot of sacrifices for their kids & grandkids. Lived thru the tail-end of the depression. Had victory gardens. When push comes to shove on this Y2K issue ... they and the middle class will get screwed. I'm doing what I can to help out.* Cheryl P.S.
