Dan, is this a joke?

Yes. I was simply observing that short term performance is no indication of long term results. I have followed Iomega since 1996 and see the recent revelations about the company to be very disturbing.

It appears that management mistakenly believed that the Zip and Jaz had become immune to competition and were good enough to sell themselves. Apparently competition is a factor and demand for the Zip is elastic and subject to the same price / demand equations that most other consumer goods follow.

My greatest concern is that competitive pressures in this market segment will make it next to impossible for any company (Syquest, Iomega, Imation ...) to make a steady profit.
