Mike, Wow, you said AJC and I knew who you were talking about. She's as famous as the Bearded Ladies. I still remember my lunch/job interview with her in 1979. Smart economist who didn't have a clue about investing. However, she did know how to pick up a check when the waiter arrived. I like that in meal partners of any gender. -g-

She didn't make it big until after I had left the business. Elaine Garzarelli and The ancient Merrill guy, Bob Farrell, were the two top dogs back then. I also fondly recall a gent from Dean Witter named Francis Kelly. He was in a foul mood when he visited us at American Capital and I was making too much money to put up with his rudeness. I walked out on him, as did half the rest of the crowd. Most used the old notebook trick, where you leave your notebook behind to pretend you are coming back. -g- I didn't think he even deserved that. Later I found out he had had his face ripped off by my former bosses at Waddell and Reed in Kansas City, so I forgave him. I had seen strategists and analysts behave much worse after getting shelled at Crown Center. The fund managers give themselves extra points if they can make a street geek cry. -g- MB
