My theory is that INTC wants an embedded chiip database to see what is out there, and whether they can say "Me too!"


I think you would find that between the 8048, 8051, 80196, i960, and the embedded PC 486 class processors, that INTC in fact has a fair percentage of the embedded processor market. It has not given it as much emphasis in recent years, but it is certainly there.
