A reverse stock-split would normally be viewed rather negatively. And most likely, some folks will get the jitters if it happens. However, it would appear that GMD investors have little to fear in view of the fact that GMD has real gold properties and
a potentially hot 'diamond'property.

Given the present circumstances and the times, it is not surprising that a junior company would seek or agree to be amalgamated with other companies. For therein lies the way to survival in a market where the price of gold is down and threatens to go lower, where investor confidence is at an all-time low (witness the fact that the recent Mining Conference in Toronto turned out to be a non-event) and it is very difficult to raise funds.

Perhaps after the inaugural meeting of the European Monetary Union (last week of April/first week of May 1998), we will know, for sure, their official stand on gold.
Many like to believe gold is likely to rise after the EMU announcement re: gold, and I like to hope their optimism is justified.

Japan has just conceded that they are probably caught in a deflationary spiral. And, Robert Rubin has strongly criticised the IMF for going ahead with issuing additional funds to help the hapless Asian countries. Would you or anyone venture an opinion as to what impact these might have on the price of gold?

Hello George & Welcome

Can you give us some indication of the source of your rumours and some sense of their validity?
