GLM,NE AND GW---I have decided to go with these 3 as I enter this sector tomorrow unless someone thinks I am being stupid. My other option would be to take all the money I would invest in these 3 and
put it all on DO(Diamond Offshore).Any opinions welcome,because I
don't know diddle,I just sort of flip a coin.max90

Ron:

Nice call last Wednesday.......

Message 3681153

Four days exactly and today just might qualify as a
strong rebound.

Best damn day I have ever had in the market.

Thank you from the entire thread for your fine work.

To all.....

Where to start ???...I have been a lurker on this thread for approx. 1 month,,,,funny, its about the same time I came into this sector of the market. First of all I would like to commend every one of you for running a very informative, objective and totally enlightening forum. As I said, I came to this sector about 1 month ago and have since overweighted my portfolio with quality co's affiliated with the Oil industry. Some I intend to hold for the long haul (esv,ne,glm, tmar,br) and some I intend to trade on strength (keg, pds, xon, slb). Over the years I have tried many, many market timing strategies(home engineered) that to be honest fell flat. The only other time I overweight was about 1 1/2 years ago in the networking industry,,,(I am sure some of you remember what happened at that time)...they nose dived hard,,,,I unfortunately averaged down until the pain was so great I sold out and guess what,,,,they rebounded without me !!!! Anyway the story gets better,,,,I made some large bets on other techs and struggled back to post a modest gain for the year. My point is,,,,I WOULD NOT overweight again unless I truly believed I can make some money this time. With all of the information readily available and the help of this thread, I think this is very doable. I would recommend the SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN article (*March issue) to all. (thanks for the tip)....
Ron...Thanks for the website,,,,awesome job,,,keep up the good work!!

Luc....Thanks for the wonderful insights and most of all, thanks for talking me out of selling yesterday !!!! In fact because one of you guys have a quote that goes something like "When I am ready to sell, I should be buying !!!!" I increased my positions on Tuesday,,,(will trade out of excess on strength !!)..

PZ, Marc,,,,and the rest of you ..

Thanks for the education !!!!! I will attempt to add value were and when possible..

Mark,

P.S.
I know this will not be an easy ride but as long as we can control FEAR and GREED,,,,there is SERIOUS money to be made!!!!

RG,
Congrats on shifting from depressive to manic. I'm glad that it worked out well for you after jumping the gun on your technical signals. One small point on SDC. Though about half its rigs are offshore and about half land, considerably more of its revenues come from offshore--about 80%.

IMPORTANT: SEX AND OIL MIX

As Ron indicated "This is the wildest ride I've ever been on, better than sex and not nearly as predictable"

and did I hear something about a TV commentator enjoying our rig boys placing long pipes down tight holes...?

I knew there was some other reason other than money to invest in this sector. We've got it all here folks: anticipation, climax, wild emotions, and GLM all over the place.

Bazmataz, you're a party pooper! If you don't cheer up, we won't invite you to the party.
