Eric:
I don't know if you heard, but Jabil, who supplies circuit boards for CSCO,announced that their circuits purchases have dropped significantly. Is this bad newsfor Cisco? I think that a strong quarter will have huge implications on Cisco's stockprice with all of the other networkers showing signs of weakness (well, most, so far;) Anybody heard anything on Cisco's biz in Europe?

JRH

Yeah, but Jabil builds boards a for a whole slew of communcations companies here in the valley. AND, given that many of them are reporting weakness one would expect JABIL sales have dropped. You're right however to wonder if Cisco has been affected as well. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Got my fingers crossed that Cisco, once again, does not disappoint!

I played back my tape of CNBC this morning ( I tape it in the morning and play it back at a decent hour!) and Jabil's CEO was interviewed by Mark Haines. The CEO said that Cisco was still doing fine but he implied that 3Com had slowed a little bit. I have holdings in both stocks and am staying long in them. In fact I'm thinking of investing in JABL, they are a lean, mean contract manufacturer facing a temporary slowdown that should not last more than a quarter or two. (I agree with Jabil's CEO on this.)

No recent news on Europe but the last news was that business was picking up the last few months.

I'm waiting to see what 3Com reports next week. High end networking sales are still going strong. The latest reports say that the internet backbones are slowing down with increased traffic. I'm looking for further evidence to support that.

regards

Eric
