Hi bluejeans,

<< I suspect there is more to your sermons than meet the eye. >>

Gee, I don't know what. If there is any unstated goal it is to discuss my ideas about LGND with others to hear what they say and learn.

By conservative, I mean time tested ways of identifying companies that are about to really move. Rising earnings, accelerated growth in earnings, quarter by quarter over the most recent year -- that is one very predictive factor. It's time tested, so I guess that's conservative.

Companies that do not have this present a lower chance of taking off. Would you rather put $10,000 in a company that has a 75% chance of making a dramatic 30% gain next year, or a company that has a 10% chance of making the same gain?

I don't believe LGND has as good a chance as some other, better positioned companies of making that happen.

As for options, they are just another investment vehicle. They work differently than stocks, of course. Short term. The only investment I have made in LGND so far are some calls. I think the news and NDA and all is causing a little run up of a few points. I will sell them soon. Now you know.

Re: Why is Everyone Dumping on this Brian Guy?

Dear Thread: LIGHTEN UP!

Even the redoubtable Mr. Tý doesn't deserve the piling on this fellow has gotten in the last few days. If you disagree with him, OK, but the condescension I've seen is truly obnoxious (and, no, I'm not going to seek and list a bunch of links to other messages... what a d--- waste of bandwidth!).

BTW, I don't necessarily agree with everything he says. I'm just sick and tired of all the attitude on this thread, especially given the virtually canine performance of "our" stock compared to, say, steel stocks, let alone the S&P, Naz, DRG, BKX, INX, RUT, etc. Sneer when LGND is over 30, all right?

Pý (not thread copping, just sick of the signal-noise ratio)

p.s. to Tony: In case this message gives you cause to smirk: why don't you give us 1-5 stocks to benchmark against LGND going forward? DELL post hoc, as if that's a courageous call...

p.s. to some: let me acknowledge that some of you have had measured responses to the Brian-guy... RB, His Majesty, others... please excuse my use of a shotgun rather than a rifle. :-)
