If I bought 1000 shares at 35, and they now have a market value of 23 I lost $12000, whether I sold or not. Holding on to a loss to avoid recognizing it does not change the fact that it is a loss!!

After just updating my books, no one knows this better than I do! Will offset some losses with recognition of CCs and puts Friday.
