Paramount Ventures & Finance Inc - Further ground acquired at Kap JV Paramount Ventures & Finance Inc PVF Shares issued 27591374 1998-03-18 close $0.62 Thursday Mar 19 1998 See Canabrava Diamond Corp (CNB) News Release Mr George Plewes reports The Kap joint venture project is comprised of four property blocks totalling approximately 120,000 hectares of staked claims in the Wawa Sub-Province of the Superior Craton in north central Ontario. In response to the release of positive results from a regional heavy mineral sampling program completed by the Ontario Geological Survey in the Kapuskasing area, the property position on the Kap joint venture has been significantly expanded. Staking crews are completing the ground acquisition program, and a final figure on the new acreage is not yet available. The OGS program covered approximately 2,000 sq km in the Woman Falls-Wakusimi River area south of the town of Kapuskasing. A total of 201 modern alluvium samples were collected across the area and significant numbers of kimberlite indicator minerals including chrome pyrope garnets, chromites, picro-ilmenites and chrome diopsides were recovered. Of particular importance is the presence of four G10 garnets, two of which have highly favourable compositions for the presence of diamonds. A variety of geological evidence including the nature of the till material sampled and the morphological features of the individual grains indicate that the source kimberlites should be close by. The OGS study identified six areas and five individual sites with potential for diamond exploration. A number of these areas are located within the Kap project and the recent staking has covered certain of the others. Results for the 8,600 line km high resolution airborne magnetic and electromagnetic VLF survey recently completed on the Kap project have been received from High Sense Geophysics. Data quality is excellent and a number of high priority anomalies have already been identified from a preliminary review of the product. A detailed evaluation of the data has been initiated using both in house company expertise as well as a geophysical consultant with a proven discovery record for diamondiferous kimberlites. These results together with the discovery on Canabrava's 100% owned Whitefish Lake property confirm the presence of a new kimberlite province within the central Superior Craton, and the prospectivity of the structural corridor targeted by the Whitefish Lake and Kap projects. A $4 million exploration program has been initiated and fieldwork will begin as soon as weather conditions permit. Canabrava Diamond Corporation is actively exploring for diamonds in Brazil and Canada and looking at other opportunities worldwide. The company is 52% owned by Southwestern Gold Corporation. Paramount Ventures & Finance is a well financed junior exploration company with copper and gold projects in Argentina and Indonesia, and diamond projects in Brazil.
