I am not aware of any software that scans for candlesticks. However, you can program TC2000 to do scans. I haven't the time to write the code although it appears easy.

Hi GM: Sure, that could be done with QuotesPlus or Investigator 2.0. The basic form of the scan would be (for a bottom):

low(0)-high(-1) >0; //the number in parens is the day; 0 is today, -1 is yesterday, etc.
AND
low(-2) - high(-1) >0;
AND
open(0)-close(0)=0; //Or maybe you relax this one a bit and allow something slightly more than 0.

Other additional factors for the high-low range of day(-1) being within certain bounds and for the offset of the star within the day's range could also be added as you see fit (for example, c(-1)> (1/3 * (h(-1)-L(-1))+L(-1)
AND C(-1)< H(-1)-(1/3* H(-1)-L(-1))
AND H(-1)-L(-1)< 1/2* 9-day MA of H-L

or something along those lines.

P.S Also, Metastock has some built-in candlestick function calls, but no abandoned baby.

Yes this will scan 1000's for indicators...
Greg, Gottfried, and everyone.
Yes there is a program that can automatically scan 1000's of charts. Believe it or not. Ok, I emailed the admin at litwick.com (litmail@litwick.com)..(what's with all the 'lit' stuff???) anyway, the admin gave me a small scoop on the site and it has the analysis on any stock on the market, AND it can let you perform the EXACT thing many of us want, to be able to scan for any number of stocks for any pattern!!!!!! They said they won't give too much more about the stie until the live date April 13. but that they have had many requests for information. Does anyone else have any other info on this site??

- CandleMan (no the name has nothing to do with candlesticks...haha)
