Another [major] eCommerce alliance: Geocities and OpenMarket.

"...GeoCities Offers Shops to All

Merging commerce with community, and also seeking a revenue stream in addition to banner ads, GeoCities today introduced GeoShops. Through a partnership with Internet Commerce Services Corp., which uses software provided by Open Market, GeoShops allows any homesteader to "commerce-enable" their site to sell products on the Internet. GeoCities said it expects more than 100,000 marketers and online shops to take advantage of the offer. Merchants seeking credit card transaction capability will pay a startup fee, and all merchants will be charged a minimum of $80 a month for participation..."

>If we were SWEBF we would aggressively go after At&T, Sybase, Oracle, Netscape

It looks like to me that there are still two companies at SoftQuad,
Alpha with retail channel and SoftQuad selling SGML/XML/HTML products.
The power clearly lies with the Alpha side of the fence right now.
Alpha dropped the ball last quarter, but is making up this quarter
with the 747 product. SoftQuad side is an unknown for revenue, but
I think they must be having an uphill battle internally getting things
done. I don't expect that they have the resources or direction to
agressively go after large partner deals. I am still bullish on
SoftQuad as I expect that SoftQuad will meet their revenue targets
this quarter and Alpha should exceed theirs.

I am curious, does anyone have an org chart or anything. After
the Rabin bros, from the web page we do not see any of the
operations folks. Who is in charge of sales? marketing? stuff like that.
