Ericsson is delivering Vaporware to NTT-Docomo! Not so bad for a company that started with CDMA a year ago after the big success of IS-95.It's strange that they are competent enough to do this when they are not competent enough to do IS-95.Strange also that NTT-Docomo is not pointing out that it's just vaporware. It looks like they think it is hardware and software.Maybe someone on this thread can inform them what it is. ERICSSON WORLD FIRST WITH MOBILE MULTIMEDIA EXPERIMENTAL SYSTEM Ericsson has delivered a next-generation WCDMA experimental system for mobile communications to NTT DoCoMo, one of the largest mobile network operators in the world. Ericsson's experimental system has been thoroughly tested by NTT DoCoMo's technical experts, both at Ericsson's laboratories in Japan and Sweden and at NTT DoCoMo's laboratories in Japan. "We are very pleased with Ericsson's expertise in next-generation mobile systems. The delivery and successful acceptance test of the experimental system is an important step for both companies," says Takanori Utano, Executive Manager, Research and Development Department at NTT DoCoMo. "We are proud to deliver the world's first WCDMA experimental system to NTT DoCoMo, an operator determined to make mobile multimedia happen. With the overwhelming support from GSM operators in Europe, Asia and North America, WCDMA paves the way for a truly global next-generation standard," says $ke Persson, Vice President, Marketing and Sales at Ericsson Radio Systems. Ericsson's experimental system supports circuit and packet-switched wireless services at 384 kbps with wide-area coverage. NTT DoCoMo will use the system for demanding real-life tests and demonstrate new and innovative multimedia applications. Due to the huge interest in the development of next-generation mobile communications, NTT DoCoMo will invite network operators from all over the world to participate and have access to the results. Going forwards NTT DoCoMo will further enhance its experimental system, fully drawing on the expertise at Ericsson's new R&D center in Yokosuka, Japan, as well as Ericsson's global R&D resources in more than 20 countries. Wideband CDMA will support a wide range of new mobile multimedia services such as IP-based applications, video, high-speed data communications and other interactive services.
