My earlier post about IPIQ's origin spawned a few phone calls from other ex-IMS employees who are equally curious. Taking a wild guess that IPIQ's domain name and web address may be ipiq.com and www.ipiq.com respectively, we used "%whois ipiq.com" on a net-enabled workstation and pulled up the following information from a query on ipiq.com from InterNIC, the organization that maintains domain names for the Internet:

International Meta Systems IPIQ-DOM

Domain servers in listed order:

SUN4C409.IMES.COM 209.184.4.1
NS1.SWBELL.NET 151.164.1.1

It appears that from a network perspective, IPIQ became e-mail and WEB aware on 3/10/98 and that the resident corporate server for IPIQ is the IMS server sun4c409.imes.com. This leads to some interesting questions:

- does IPIQ already own IMS (or think they do)?

- has the bankruptcy court already awarded the $135K IMS buyout to IPIQ?

- subsequent to the ZSP $140K payment, did IMS payback the $135K note to IPIQ but still lost the goods because it "defaulted" on the note? If this was the case, for an eleven day loan of $135K, IPIQ made $5K and got the goodies. No risk with high returns if IPIQ was aware of the pending ZSP deal via a former board director.

- does IPIQ actually have any employees other than Phil Neches since IPIQ's corporate server is actually an IMS server?

- is IPIQ registered to legally do business in Texas? Checking with the Texas State Comptroller for a wage claim against IMS indicates IMS, a Delaware corporation headquartered in California, registered 14-16 months after hiring the first Texas employee for the Austin design center. I'll make another phone call tomorrow and post the results.

It would be nice if we could have a "clean separation" with all affairs in order so that we can move beyond IMS. Sadly, the recent 8-K disclosure only moves us in the opposite direction.
