Tony, Personally, LGND is currently my so called clean up hitter...for a few reasons. As we all know their pipeline is very extensive, and I feel that their science is excellent. I feel that their management is very competent, shareholder friendly (they could of waited til after options expire to release news) & is capable of taking the company to the moon (but I'm no business major...so what do I know...“¨~). Unfortunately, I know first hand that in science there is no guarantee, because "Murphy rules", lol. As for being a speculative play, I would rather call it a educated gamble, but I'm definitely in it for the long haul...I feel long term they have more bang for the buck than a lot of the companies out there. I figure 30-40 yrs from now when I retire, the money I have invested will be negligible if I lose it...but If it hits, I'll be :). Also, if I end up falling on my face, I am young enough to recover.
