SpeedChoice Chosen as Internet Service Provider for the Jason Project

DETROIT, March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- SpeedChoice, Detroit's new wireless data delivery service, is providing high-speed Internet access for the highly acclaimed Jason IX project at its Michigan site at Lamphere High School in Madison Heights.

The Jason Project is an international scientific expedition that exposes the wonders of science to the children of the world through interactive distance learning. This year's project, Jason IX, focuses on Oceanography. The project's reach is based on 30 worldwide network sites that are interactive with Jason. There are only 17 in the United States and Lamphere is the sole Michigan site.

From March 16 through March 27, SpeedChoice will connect 8,000-12,000 students from around the world to the Lamphere site during one of five daily shows.

''SpeedChoice saved the day for us,'' explains Dean Covert, Science and Industrial Technology Coordinator for Lamphere Schools. ''We had contracted for a T1 line, but due to the lead time necessary, the other vendors we had contacted could not deliver within that time frame. Someone who 'test drove' SpeedChoice at the Ford exhibit during the auto show recommended them. We couldn't be happier with their responsiveness. Plus we got an Internet connection faster than the T1 with less hassle and cost to install.''

Because of SpeedChoice's high-speed data delivery, students will be capable of downloading information 50 To 100 times faster than conventional methods. SpeedChoice uses wireless transmission over leased radio frequencies to deliver data, video and audio at speeds of up to 10 megabits per second,

''We are very pleased to be working with Lamphere and Detroit area students on this world class project,'' said Matthew Oristano, SpeedChoice Chairman and CEO. ''The SpeedChoice service can be of great help to the Michigan educational community by delivering high speed Internet access to schools at a fraction of typical hard-wire costs. We look forward to working further with Michigan's educational, technological business and legislative leaders who are involved with the Jason Project.''

$44.95 doesn't seem so expensive for high speed. Compare to ISDN, or T-1, or cable for that matter. Think of the speed. I'd buy it, but I'd run to ISP's until I was sure of the quality. It really sucks when you get down time, or support that doesn't know what's going on.

What I don't know is if this includes the return path Telco line?

The stock seems to be recovering a bit. I wonder if we will see them get past the delisting issue on the same basis as last year. If so, the price is not too bad. With all their cash, do you know what book value is?

Regards,

Mark
