I recently read an article on a new Japenese Technology which
is capable of producing .05 micron geometries using (I forget
the name) cluster Ion beams or something(Still in Lab but
expected to produce 1 Gig RAM parts in a couple of years.
Having been in the industry for about 15+ years you'd thing
I'd remember but alas the mind is gone. If I find the article again (unlikely) or someone else has read it let me know. The relevance is that the industry is very volitile. I remember when LAM=Etch and
GCA Steppers ruled ( Actually Perkin Elmer before that but
that was long ago ). My point? I'm not sure. I have a good
position in UTEK and need to re-evalutate the company. At
present I think the potential is very good, but due to the
time to put the new plant on-line and maintaining sales of
their Low resolution/High d.o.f Steppers, there are
questions I need answered.
