Some interesting news items today:

ESST sued by Creative for their latest PCI audio chip used by
Diamond. So far, it appears Cirrus has a better relationship with Creative and is not violating patents. That could prove beneficial
for OEM design wins in PCI audio.

IBM cut prices on commercial PCs. Surprisingly, the biggest cuts
are on the new PII-based PCs (which include a higher-margin Cirrus
chip). It seems that IBM is taking the opportunity to try to gain market share because Compaq is stuck with large amounts of older,
Pentium-based inventory in the channel. This should benefit Cirrus.
