Matt -- thanks for the comments from Seybold. I knew MCRE had a booth there and was wondering about it, so I'm glad to hear they looked OK. I think 7 1/4 is fairly valued at the moment -- p/e of 28 which is OK for a stable growing hightec company which MCRE still is, so I even increased my posn 33% just now. But its not the high-flying company worth 17 it was a while back because the stream of innovative new products seems to be more replaced by consolidation phase of improving old ones, which is a different style altogether. Maybe its a necessary transition stage, or maybe the creative stream just dried up. What I mean by dated is not the shift to consumer from high-end; thats just why I bought MCRE the consumer products like goo and soap and the consumerisation of productivity software like bryce. Its more -- where are the radical new products (not old ones like editing pictures which everyone does now) e.g macr has so much weboriented stuff. So MACR: hot, MCRE, not eg they promised once a new 3d browser or something. We expect something useful, magical, innovative. -- where are they on VRML. probably you know more about that side than I do and can comment -- where are they on 3d hardware accelaration -- nowhere The other stuff like the real3d scanner is still up there in the expensive developmental/specialist stage and I havent been counting on it for the near term. But, -- where are they on that in terms of coming to market, which was talked so much about by Wilzak about a year ago Anyhow, am willing to average down a bit and give them time to consolidate, see what the new top managment and Kai can come up with. One thing that encouraged me recently: on the MCRE website there are about 12 positions vacant on all fronts from top engineers to quality control (they need it!). I'm not an expert but it seems to me not insignificant. Either they lost a lot of people when they moved house last summer which they still didnt replace (!) or, more likely, they are expanding. What do people here think? I guess end of march is when we expect the next earnings. Shahn
