Thursday March 19, 12:34 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release FlightSafety International Awards Concurrent Computer Corporation $1.9 Million Contract for Night Hawk Computer Systems FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 1998--Concurrent Computer Corporation (NASDAQ:CCUR - news) announced today that the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Simulation Systems Division of FlightSafety International purchased 25 Night Hawk computer systems for use in pilot training simulation systems. The contract is for $1,904,000. FlightSafety International, the world's leading provider of aviation training, was acquired last year by Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. The Simulation Systems Division is a leading designer and builder of full-flight aircraft simulators, used to train pilots in both commercial and military aviation. The Division has developed training simulators for numerous aircraft, including the Boeing 777, Boeing 737-6/7/800, Air Force C-17, Saab 2000, Falcon 2000, and Canadair RJ. The 25 Night Hawk computer systems purchased by the Simulation Systems Division have been designated for use in future flight simulators. The Night Hawk 5804 high-performance, real-time computer system offers symmetric multiprocessing, a powerful real-time operating system, and compliance with industry and international standards. It is designed to support up to eight CPUs, allowing near-linear performance increases as processors are added to the system. The real-time performance of the Night Hawk design makes it ideal for delivering the six degrees of freedom motion rotation required to simulate the avionics of the FSI aircraft simulators. ''FlightSafety has made significant investments in Concurrent's real-time product line through the years. Staying with Concurrent systems means FSI can implement its systems without having to re-engineer for new applications,'' said Corky Siegel, President and Chief Executive Officer, Concurrent Computer Corporation. ''FlightSafety Simulation Systems Division is a leader in aircraft simulation technology. Each purchasing decision is considered independently to achieve the high-technology, high-quality aviation training tools,'' said John Slish, Product Information Manager, Simulation Systems Division, FlightSafety International. ''We continue to choose Concurrent for its real-time performance, flexibility, and open systems environment.'' FlightSafety International is headquartered at New York's LaGuardia Airport, where the company was founded 45 years ago. There are 41 FSI learning centers in the United States,Canada, France, and China, which each year provide training to over 50,000 pilots, aircrew members, maintenance technicians, and aviation personnel. The company operates the largest fleet of full flight simulators in the world. FlightSafety is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc [NYSE:BRKa - news].
