<>< Shalom ><> The Literal Word. A good friend of mine and his wife joined a group that actually did this. Like the Lord instructed, to the Letter.Shalom The words of my LORD Jesus: Luke 10:2-11 (Any translation should work) They went into his harvest, literally, they walked away from their lives to do so. They considered themselves followers, nothing more They carried no identification, no money, no wallets. It was a small significant ritual, it was very important. They could tell if their Lord was with them. This was done also. They never begged or thought of themselves as unemployed, nothing could make them unclean so they ate what was received. I did not witness any miracle healing, though I have seen many claimed on television. I suspect that this may literally refer to "the sick in spirit" This was done also, most rigorously, this was reminiscent of Jehovah's Witnesses, who also feel this scripture has special significance. They had no possessions save as accorded, a bowl two robes. No footwear, no trace of modernity. No money, they never hitchhiked but simply walked, finding warmth and shelter when it came, they were well paid laborers, if irregularly. They had some problems walking across borders, but they have recounted several times that it was possible. Personally I suspect that the border guard was just too stunned to see people walking along in nothing but a robe. The unshaven appearance caused by the lack of modern hygiene probably helped. Giving away there worldly goods was part and parcel of the deal. This was all done for the Lord, the people who pointed out the significance of the scripture they followed were sincere and seemed to glow. I personally did not see these people glow, but I suspect their glowing looks were caused by a weathering tan which developed from lack of shelter. I turned down the offer to join. Could we have decided the rightness or the wrongness of the people who claimed to be from Christ by the use of the literal Word. Should a Christian have followed these men. Should other Christians follow these men and women. Their severe interpretation is warranted, that is what they said, they claimed to be correct. In light of the scripture you pointed out I thought you might have a personal opinion on that. Always good to see knowledgeable people on the threads.
