Didn't Interdigital demonstrate the same thing a year ago (like looking over the shoulder of an emergency services worker.)? (I hope Jim Lurgio remembers.)

Worlds first?

Reminds me of the first MUSE HDTV system. Ten years later, I can comfortably say: Just because it can be done doesn't mean anything.

When IS95C software is installed on base stations, Ericy could use Qcom's MSM3000 ASIC to get 64Kbps out of 8 channels. Double up on the chips to get ISDN rates. Then, maybe they will be able to roam further than the Ericy building (like over a large portion of North America.)

Since any moron knows that the market for live video is extremely limited when compared to simple voice, this QCOM groupie has to ask: So, how reliable will the cellphone be?

NTT DoCoMo is about to lose marketing share to IDI and DDO as their CDMAOne systems come on line this summer. Their marketing engine is starting to grasp at straws faster than the Europeans.

This will be interesting. But, it is far from over.
