Absolutely. I thought the connection to Rome was clear when I mentioned they started in Jerusalem as part of the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem. It is also referred to as the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. I have been trying to remember the name of the battle at which Aleksander Nevsky routed the Teutonic Order. It took place near a large lake and was famously depicted in Eisenstein's movie about Nevsky. That is why the order is now only in Austria and Germany. As with much associated with the Crusades there was much about politics and slaughter and little about Christ associated with these people.
