Teleglobe building video network for MCI...................

Teleglobe intends to build additional Millennium International Television Access Centers in Los Angeles, Paris, Frankfurt, Miami, and Washington, D.C. The company added that it is using MPEG-2 4:2:2 encoding, which allows broadcasters to transport multiple, high-quality channels over the same amount of bandwidth needed to send a single analog channel.

"Offering MPEG-2 4:2:2 video over ATM not only raises the technology bar, it also enables us to offer highest quality, lower cost transmission, with the rapid turnaround demanded by the fast-paced news, entertainment, and sports broadcast environment," said Paolo Guidi, president and CEO for Teleglobe Global Telecom Services. "Millennium also gives broadcasters the ability to set their own quality levels rather than be limited to those mandated by carriers."
