tom, if you thought about shorting them, why would you ever buy the one that didn't preannounce. if one does they both go down hard. i am short altr and up to this point it has been painful. avg price is 39 1/2 with initial shares shorted at 37 1/2, then 39 1/2 then 41 1/2. i agree 100% that something is coming and those in the know(insider info) are bailing. i was seriously doubting my decision until last week when altr traded 7 m shares i think it was and didn't move. it was being sold offf hard. i decided then to add to my short, thinking that this was coming. how low they go depends on the rest of the market. it market tanks they will both hit 28/29 again. good luck] js
