Eric, thanks for the explanation. I had thought that Claris's earnings were simply not reported, since it was a privately held company, rather than folded into Apple's earnings.

Very interesting article here on Jobs' strategy:

pbs.org

Kind of funny that Cringely should compare Jobs to Hitler after Bill Jackson's comments a while back, but Cringely is actually a friend of Jobs.

Re: Claris revenues/earnings

I believe that Apple/Claris has in the past broken out the revenues for Claris, but has refrained from
reporting actual profits.
I'm not so sure that Filemaker will follow this lead. It might be good marketing to present Filemaker Pro Inc. as a discrete enitiy. It will be interesting to see how this is handled.

Incidentally I think that the creation of Filemaker Pro Inc. was brilliant. The name itself very strong with added benefit of having a superior product to back it up.
I believe that it is possibly perceived as platform agnostic.
A real Windows product,so to speak. Distancing it from Apple is good . Maybe it could eventually be leaked that its actually Microsoft's "Pro" product series . Should boost sales.
