jeffery, DPMI vs PLAB

I admit I'm somewhat biased with PLAB having worked with them to
get mask corrections into production asap. Usually less than 24 hrs
for prototype fixes for deliveries for customer evaluation. Timing
is everything in this rapidly changing business. 1st to market!
Also, I've had inputs suggesting a simple process modification to
take geometries to a .15 level of processing. This can probably be
achieved, if at least not demonstrated, with 193nm DUV. Don't no,
maybe DPMI is there also. Although PLAB P/E is a little on the high
side, I expect near term upside volume based strictly on TI's 2nd half DSP strategy. I expect TI qtr1 flat to disappointing, but
beyond, look out world. Photo earnings precede semis as the masks
need made before the designs are processed. Someone mentioned do they wear out. Of coarse, but this is not of significant volume. New designs is where it's at. ADLS solutions is the heart of TI, and they're about to explode. TI uses PLAB. T1 lines, cable modems, video streaming is on it's way and TI is in the forefront. Probably ADI also. Now if ADI also uses PLAB, look out. If they use DPMI, the race is on.
Both TI and ADI are formidable competitors, with all others a
distant 3rd. Frankly, I can hardly wait. Copper, fiber, I don't care.
Just give me something that keeps up with the INTC processors. So
far, it's the TI c6x! 56k sucks. Give me 10 mhz! The need for speed,
as we say at the dragstrips! Remember the DPMI press is talking clear
out to 2009. Some changes after2001. Wallstreet has a hard time beyond
the next quarter. They're forward looking until a market correction,
then WHAM, they can't see beyond the next quarter. Flakes!
