NT and Unix hasnt traditionally competed in the Same space though this is changing on the low end. Novell ships many more servers than Sun but no one says Novell will kill Sun since there used for different purposes. Also you typically need many more NT servers to do what a unix server does if it can do the job at all - it is not uncommon for a mid range unix server to replace dozens of NT servers for applications like email and groupware. There is a trend in the industry to replace large numbers of NT servers which by even Microsofts admission are unmanageable with fewer Unix servers - its called Server Consolidation. Of course NT will continue to be strong and grow for small and medium size businesses and departmental use.

Also it depends on how you define servers, workstations, etc. For example NT workstations may outsell Unix workstations but the revenue from unix workstations is 4-5x greater than NT workstations. Maybe this accounts for the non-profit business Compaq is running.
