Is there a place online where I can read the latest news release from RNK? I know Canada Stockwatch has it, but I don't feel I should have to pay for news releases by a company I own shares in.

I'm surprised RNK took such a hit with a writedown. I don't know the full details, but I thought writedowns weren't viewed so negatively. Many companies that have huge one-time writedowns are raved because it gives them full earnings potential in future quarters rather than have the expenses drag down each quarter's earnings.

Geac wrote down their acquisition of Dun & Bradstreet all at once (over $3.00/share, I think) but then their quarterly earnings shot up after that along with their share price. Corel let their WordPerfect purchase drag their earnings down for a few quarters before writing it all down after that. As I recall, it didn't hit their shares the way RNK did. Corel shares are down, but for other reasons.
