Corey: The Smith Barney/Salomon/Coke connection is Warren Buffett. I suspect that if Smith Barney is involved in heavy buying these past few days, it is for Monster Buyer, and not for their own account. If Smith Barney and Monster Buyer were both competing for the available shares, we'd be in the teens (like we should be). I do expect the Smith Barney's to take positions and issue research "buys" so they can sell TAVA to their retail clients. As for Buffett, I vaguely recall that he has lightened up on his Salomon holdings - but not his KO. It certainly puts Smith Barney in a position to know what's what, and you've spotted a very logical reason for Smith Barney to be buying with both fists.
