seems to me they're just following their master msft.
extending by limiting.. sounds like a Gate's phrase.

I'm disappointed with hp's lack of, what I call, bones.

on a different note, If sunw sues msft over j++ 6, I can already hear Gates argument: 'we did it with C++ and no one complained. We extended java.. sunw should be happy with such cooperative move on our part'
