All things relative. Everyone wrote of some channel inventory. The pre-56k Rockwell based modems were written off because they were not upgradeable (unsaleable). The USR modems were written down because of overall lack of demand (still saleable). It looks like history may repeat itself, where Rockwell K56Flex modems are not as flexible in upgrading to V.90, where nearly all USR modems are.

Other than yourself, I have yet to see anyone (including Rockwell) deny that there has been a major shift in market share towards 3Com. Whether that shift has beneficial in the short term is another matter.
