<<So many other better plays right now than COMS.>>

Could you share these with us? I bought more COMS yesterday @ $32.75.
WHEN it hits $35, that is a 7% gain! This likely occurrence should happen today or Monday due to potential excitement regarding NO pre-announcement. We'll see.

Craig, I agree with you this time although I am more long than short. COMS is experiencing many problems it never face before,
1) On low end (NIC to Switch Hub) serious competitions from CPQ, Intel, Cisco, Bay's Netgear.
2) Modem sales problem - Rockwell/Lucent, ADSL/CDSL, calbemodem.
(COMS has xDSL and cablemodem too but it doesn't has the same leadership as in analog modems)
3) PalmPC/WinCE threat from Microsoft.
4) Asian problem
5) Accounting problems since acquisition of USR.

3Com probably able to maintains its leadership on 1) to 3), nevertheless the profit margin will be lowered and market share will also shrinked as a result of competitions. I can't see much downside from current price $32 to $35 but it may take sometimes for it to recover to mid 40s or low 50s. Especially it failed to break out last 2 weeks on strong momentum. The coming earning report will be able to tell the direction of 3Com in near term.

An interesting note is if you minus the revenue from USR and compare it to Bay, 3Com's #2 position may not even hold.
