Ian, I totally agree with you. I think if you think were the contracts will go to just read the way the Financial post has enumerated the companies:

"Those are expected to go to one of the leading suppliers of
ATM equipment for wide-area networks, such as Newbridge
Nortel, Cisco Systems Corp. and Lucent Technologies Inc.
Fore's strength is in developing ATM equipment for local
area networks."
FORE is a LAN ATM. LU has negligible ATM products and I think they are trying to make a couple of bucks the easy way ( courts ) by suing NN . Sort of like DEC suing INTEL!! If you can't beat em, sue'em mentality.Lawsuits is the American way of life.Everybody's got one. It will pass. I think NN having been through previous lawsuits is not stupid enough to copy Lucent's products.
There is no question in my mind that Deutsche Telecom will go with NN/Siemens because Siemens IS Germany and nationalpride is involved. But more than that NN/Siemens have the best products. When the contracts start coming out , NN to US $40 fast and furious. I think Alex Brown used DD when it reccommended NN last week.
All IMO,

TA
