Peter, do you have any idea as to when NASDAQ trades will be up again. They have been down for quite a while and my orders are not being represented to the market, nor being executed. I note that orders I cancelled several minutes ago are still showing on Island - but they do not show in the market.. What's happening??

PS.. This is getting sillier all the time. My cancelled orders are still on Island as well as the new order I tried to replace it with when I realised that the originals were not being represented. However the new order (which should be represented as the ask) still does not show on quotes??

PPS.. 10:46:37 - All is fixed now - Thanks Peter..

Peter, I'm honored. You certainly may post a link to StockClub/Super-Express on the express server.

BTW, thanks for adding "History" to the express server! I've updated the Super-Express page to include a History link.

Looking forward to a second express server. When that happens, I'll see what I can do about incorporating multiple servers into the Super-Express page.

Peter, one more kudos, but a bug at the same time...

I've seen complaints in the past about handling of splits on Datek, and so I've avoided holding splits through the split date. (The complaint was that the split was not recorded the at the open the morning of the split, but several hours or even a day or more later.)

I was pleasantly surprised to see my shares of SBC split this morning without incident, however.

One little glitch, though, is that my buying power was increased before the open, based on the previous day's (non-split) price! Of course, this was corrected once the stock opened.

Peter, I have a question/complaint about the handling of NASDAQ orders on Island where a partial fill occurs. I have noticed that if I get a partial fill of a marketable order it can take several minutes before the balance of that order is represented again on Island and the market even though that balance may still be marketable. Today I placed an order to buy 5000 PAASF at 8 5/16 which was the ask at the time and for several minutes later. I got 3 partial fills of 1000, 1000 and 900 shares but then the balance of my buy order did not appear on Island or the market for several minutes by which time the market had moved up. To make matters worse the balance was not represented as the buy during this time as well. When I place an order it appears almost instantly on Island, which is very good, but it seems partial executions run into some sort of road block and sit with "Processing" for quite a long time. This is not an isolated case and it does cause your customers more partial executions and loss of transactions in active markets.

It used to be possible to trade NASDAQ stocks in 1/64ths with Datek. Why the change, Peter? I used 64ths only very rarely but it was good to know that it was an option.

Peter, I would like to congratulate you on the great performance we are now getting from the Datek servers. I have been trading pretty intensively over the past few weeks and everything is going very smoothly with the exception of email advice of trades wich are VERY irregular and most never arrive. However that is not a concern and I would just as soon use the daily activity and not have the email advice at all.

However I still have a question on the handling of marketable NASDAQ limit orders where the number of shares ordered is greater than the number available at that price. As an example yesterday I placed a buy for 5000 FONR at the ASK price of 2 17/32. The order was placed and accepted by Datek at 12:11:16. I got a quick partial fill of 500 shares (the number on offer at that price) at 12:11:57 but the balance of the order (4,500 shares) did not show on Island until 12:14:57 over 3 1/2 minutes later. This balance did eventually fill at 12:16:24 but in the 3 1/2 minutes that my bid was not presented to the market many thousands of shares traded and at a better price than my bid. I am not complaining as my order was filled at my price but I am concerned about the delay which may have resulted (as it has on other occasions) in my not getting the balance filled at all.

I assume that the delay occurs because the whole of the order is sent to an MM who fills part and then the balance sits on a desk somewhere until it is eventually placed on Island. Non marketable orders show instantly on Island, so why should marketable ones be delayed? This is not uncommon with NASDAQ stocks and I would like to know what the cause is and how it can be rectified or at least how we can trade around it.

Also would it be possible to show the bid and ask sizes on Datek quotes? At least if we could see them then we would know our order is likely to be delayed. I currently have to use another quote service to get this information.

YES, please add B/A sizes. Would also appreciate your response to Vet's comments. I've had the same problem many times with marketable limit orders sitting around after the first partial fill.

Thanks.

I also would like to see size. I rarely place an order without checking size first.

Peter, thanks for helping make DATEK's site significantly faster and more responsive. It has really been performing nicely in the past week, I assume due to upgraded capacity. The only potential problem I see for you and DATEK is that you are spoiling us, and with the consistently fast performance of the past week, we're not going to stand for any slow downs in the future! :-) Here's hoping that DATEK will make a more concerted effort to stay AHEAD of growth bottlenecks by expanding capacity before it becomes painfully obvious that it is necessary.

I'm not a heavy volume trader, but I finally got my first price improvement on a limit order and was pleasantly surprised.
