Laetrile? Isn't that vitamin B-12 or a chemical relative? Nutritional supplements are not governed the same a pharmaceuticals. Just search the web for natural supplement suppliers and you'll find all sorts of claims regarding the beneficial effects of various herbs and vitamins. The FDA only requires that unsubstantiated claims not be touted by the manufacturer or mentioned on labels. I don't know who launched laetrile but it is probably manufactured by a number of companies. Smaller less reputable companies no doubt. I don't know of a major drug firm that would bother with these types of remedies.
