Larry and O/49r, thanks for your help.

I went to the local coin store and they recommended I buy Kruggerands! They said they were the best deal. I think I'll stick with American Eagles.

The last time I took ten Maple Leaf coins (1 troy oz each) out from my safe deposit box to sell to a Bank of Nova Scotia, I was told by the Bank that before I could get my money, the coins had to be "analysed" (oh, my God, what B.S!) to confirm their authenticity.

Now, from your post, I think I know what they meant by "analysed". It seems it is nothing more than using the specific conductivity test to ensure they are gold, is it not? Or is there something more than this?
