Hi Dennis BW does have some good sources - like the BOD?

News of their Tuesday meeting to discuss "CEO or go" and past BOD negotiations with S. Jobs had to come from inside AAPL's zeck chambers .

Cannavino is an outsider to AAPL folks but familiar to the NeXT'uns who now run AAPL :

Tuesday's BOD meeting will probably take more than one chapter in Jobs' memoirs.

Should be a real poker game with Pixar , Academy Awards, Disney , Cannavino , 3/17/98 IBM stamp of approval , 7/97 14 5/8th sacrifice sale , NeXT loyalists , Amelio's book and 17,000,000 shares , all as WILD cards flying around the room .

3/25/98 should be a day for some interesting "rumors".

Thanks for the relevant article,
Jim K.

Dennis, Amelio leaves no doubt Tuesday will be interesting

His book implicates Tuesday's poker players of intrigue :

" Ellison conspired too:

According to Amelio, Jobs wasn't the only
high-tech titan who conspired in his undoing. He
says Oracle Corp. founder Larry Ellison played a
role, too. Amelio writes that Ellison's much
publicized effort to form an investor's group to
take over Apple was a fantasy, aimed at shaking
confidence in Apple's management and, thus,
paving the way for Jobs' return as the company's
savior.

From the book's introduction to its epilogue, it's Jobs who comes in for Amelio's harshest words.

"He drove himself to
work, just as I had
done...but in the largest,
most expensive
Mercedes Benz, the
S600; faced with the
same problem of finding
places to park, he
solved it by using
spaces reserved for the
handicapped...

Jobs' talent - displace CEO
"...And he took credit for the brilliant new
products, for creating a program to market Apple
products directly to users over the Internet, and
for many other achievements that had all been
initiated without his input - all started long before he took over...

"...I predict Steve will one day conquer Hollywood
as dramatically as he conquered Silicon Valley.
Michael Eisner, watch out; Steve Jobs now has a
new talent on his resume: displacing the CEO.
The Walt Disney Company could be next."

Maybe Amelio rushed his book out knowing Tuesday is "CEO or go" day and he wants to save Minnie Mouse ?

Jim K.
