We both should. He is the virtual architect of recovery policies here. So far what I have read has been encouraging. He is a very saavy and tough minded guy and also serves the purpose of putting a buffer between Mahatir and old cronies when the going gets tough. That he and Anwar have found common ground is interesting. They are old political enemies. Re: Anwar, I think the local Chinese mistrust of him dates back to very early days when Anwar was an Islamic firebrand. At that time I guess he was guilty of spouting some anti-Chinese rhetoric. A "leopard and his spots" issue is at work here I suspect.
