Marketing savvy:

High ratings =controversial topics = $$$$

Thats the bottom line as our old friend Lebed says.

Melviticus, where have you been the last couple of months?
Morton Downey has changed. I wouldn't considering a tool of the right wing any sooner than I would give Rush Limbaud a nobel laureate for his contribution to science. FAMH provided a huge portion of the funding for the show, of which they have already recouped through sponsorships, precommitments, etc.

As Ira explained, with only a 1 percent market share, their portion of the royalties for advertising will be $100,000 a day for each day of the show. That is the extent of their involvement with the show, except for the additional exposure they will receive. If you've ever hung out with the techno nerds you would realize that they are not all liberal, or conservative.

Jin.

Mel, Mel, Mel,

Stop being a prude. Look at the demographics, not to mention
the advertising. People like that crap. They thrive on Springer
and laugh about it at work. Not my cup of tea at all but I find
I am in the minority at work when we discuss this topic. Everyone
seems to like it.

Melviticus,

This is a money play. Nothing more. High-tech companies don't care a hoot about politics when considering staffing. They want competent people at the lowest possible cost. I think all your concerns about the MD effect is misplaced. As long as FAMH can deliver the goods, the market will purchase.

Be careful out there.
