Stop being so naive. Sun is trying to crush alternative platforms
(eg. Linux, Irix, HP-UX, Netware) too. Remember McNealy saying
Solaris is the only real alternative to NT?

If nothing else, Java has been an effective tool in getting Sun's unix
competitors to jump ship into the Wintel alliance. Sun will only
benefit from debacle's like the compaq/dec merger. It is about time
one of the unix hardware vendors stood up and said "Hey, we are the
only game in town" rather than the bs politics of unix standards
committees.

As far as bloated operating systems go, the Javastation won't be
useful in office environements without its maximum of 64Megs of ram.
Forget about all the bullsh*t articles at Javaworld about how Java
performance will be much improved in the future with Hotspot, etc.
A Java client will require gobs of memory and exceptionally fast
processor.
