Did anyone NOT expect the shorts to try to counter the pending good news? There is alot of share short, they will not give up without a fight.

LSI exited the MPEG-2 encoding chipset business after
only being in it for six months. It was intended for
the "high end" broadcast market. Supposedly they
kept the team in place to do a "lightweight" version
in 98-99 for a future recordable DVD application.

So I guess currently they're no competition at all!
