Shirley, Rick: Silver-zinc fuel cells are why silver may shortly be at $15/ounce -- as many are predicting. Given his age, Mr. Buffet can't be thinking that the big demand for silver is too far in the future. IMHO, both gold and silver are due for a big bounce up. Just sitting in my rocking chair -- rocking and watching.

Shirley, I am familiar with Zinc-air fuel cells where the zinc is oxidised and you quickly replace the zinc to refuel and remove the zincoxide, possibly as a unit. I am also familiar with silver-silveroxide rechargeables. The have nearly as good a power density as Lithiums, but they can only do around 100 charge cycles before dendritic growth causes shorts. I will look up silver-zinc. With battery weighing 500 Lbs, and 35% silver that is 175 Lbs/car =~ 2000 ounces, and a million cars is 2 billion ounces in inventory. It would be recycled, with some losses, but if 1% of the 100 million cars do it, there you are..

Shirley,

Thanks for bringing that article to our attention. Very interesting.
Phil and Bill you bring up good points........market depth is fairly light up to $1.43, easily recoverable. Next week's trading should give us an indication of whether this institutional run-up will occur any time soon, as we will see if an accumulation bounce at these levels occurs.

Regards,
Ric
