Oils higher after Salomon Smith says "time to buy"

NEW YORK, March 20 (Reuters) - Shares of the oil majors outpaced the wider market after Salomon Smith Barney analyst
Paul Ting issued a buy on the sector.

Ting expected that OPEC and non-OPEC oil producers are likely to meet soon and agree to significant production cuts, which
would halt the rapid decline in crude oil prices.

''The oils should be bought now. Texaco, BP, Mobil, Exxon among the internationals. ARCO and Murphy among the
domestics.'' Ting said.
